710c printer driver

Time to get that printer to the recycling center. She was good to you, but it's time to move on. Yes, she's old But she's still on the supported hardware list, and thus should work. So I'm holding off on that for now. Hence my posting on here to see if anyone here has any thoughts. Neko-, thanks for your inquiry. Very old--this printer was introduced in and reached HP's end of life in Understandably given the printer's age, HP does not have a full feature driver for the Deskjet c.

As you state, the matrix shows that there is a Windows Update Driver. Notice in the description of the Windows Update driver that Windows Update needs to be enabled on your computer and "activates automatically when you connect a USB or network printer to the computer.

Some printers have drivers installed through Microsoft Windows Update. If Windows Update is enabled on your Internet-connected computer, it activates automatically when you connect a USB or network printer to the computer. It searches online for the most recent print driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more functional than your current driver, the computer downloads and installs this driver.

I see on the HP Forum some one has provided information on upgrade options in case you are unable to get the printer to work with Windows I've still got toner for the printer, and I know it's working perfectly, provided it is spoken to by Windows 7 or older. Windows 8 also seemed to have similar problems of what I found on the web, and Windows 10 sticks to what Windows 8 did in that regard. Moving the spool-folder away and starting from scratch Basically that still leaves me with the following files which are protected by the TrustedInstaller.

I could probably wipe them, but doubt it would be required. Windows 10 starts detection. Printer I want to install is not listed. Then we get to the driver selection. We hit the 'Windows Update' button.

List of printers is being updated, which takes a while. And let that one install. Pops up with a notice: Printer can't be installed. The printprocessor doesn't exist. Which bans me from even installing the printer. It doesn't even allow me at this point to even install a generic-text only printer Force-copied everything back to the folder that I'd moved out of it.

Local printer. Reselect the port, and it again allows me to install a printer. I'll edit the settings for the printer, and hit the Windows Update list. Force it to update the driver with the latest from Microsoft. Get the properties of the printer, and try a testpage It seems to print, tho the printer icons drop to grayed out. Checking under services find the Print Spooler has stopped.

The printer hasn't done anything. Print Spooler is restarted, the printjob is apparently passed to the printer, since it turns on indicating it did get some data , and the print queue itself is empty. Not a peep from the printer at all. I have a printer that Microsoft and HP say should work, with a signed Microsoft driver It's end of life was 14 years ago. I doubt anyone from Microsoft spent time working on or testing this functionality.

You don't have to toss the cartridges, put them on ebay! See the last message in this thread: Deskjet C not printing after Windows 10 Upgrade You can also try to disable bi-directional communication. It would be better to uninstall both printer and parallel port after any of the above changes. Then reboot computer and install both drivers again. When I issued the upgrade to Windows 10, it did an in-place upgrade, and thus should've migrated all settings over directly.

Yet the printer didn't work at all directly post-migration. Thinking I'd sidestep the whole issue by adressing the printer through the network, and letting the printserver handle the communication to the printer.

Seeing I haven't been able to print for about 3 months now, it starts to really get annoying. There are two right questions. The answer is NO. An excerpt from the list is in the table below. The answer is YES. Protocol: LPR. Port number: Please see this document here for current information regarding the Apache Log4j vulnerability.

Checking the eventlogs and these are in native dutch, which is the language the OS is installed in : EventID - error Naam van toepassing met fout: spoolsv. DLL, versie: 1.

DLL P5: 1. So it might be the USB cable Lets take that out of the equation, and switch to the printserver. Reconnected the printserver, and connected to the IP address I configured for the device.

Once I reconnect the printserver to the printer, and ask it what kind of printer it sees, it tells me faithfully it's an HP Deskjet C. So the connector on the printer isn't faulty at all.

I've done this numerous times at work sysadmin , so no real problem there. Printer properties, ports, we select the IP port. Apply, and retry the print. And again the printspooler stops working. Restarted the service And after the second restart, the spooler remains in operation, but the testprint has gone from the printqueue. Your possibility of step 4 isn't really applicable. I am an administrator on the system, and know I have access to everything. I've run all of this under my account which is administrator equivalent, and done so by selecting 'run as administrator' a few times.

HP refers to Microsoft for the driver, but it seems the bit Microsoft driver is not up to the task of talking to this HP printer. Microsoft in the mean time seems to pretend nothing is actually wrong, because probably 'the DeskJet C is a dinosaur and thus is not used by anyone anymore'.

While I agree the Deskjet C is a dinosaur of a printer, it's also one of the finest examples of HP products to survive for such a long time, and still function properly. Going with the above test results, and my findings of my previous posts, aswell as the found posts indicating similar problems, I still stand with my reasoning that the Microsoft provided printerdriver on 64 bit for the HP DeskJet C is faulty.

Nobody else having any further ideas, drivers or potential other solutions? And we opted in with HP, to make sure you buy new hardware, eventho the old hardware is listed as 'should be working'. You get the OS for free, but can fork over cash to get your functionality from Windows 7 back. While it WOULD work around the issue since it does not solve the issue the fact that I have a perfectly good printer, with still a load of full cartridges for it, would mean I'd have to toss more than just the worth of the printer.

Someone suggested installing VirtualBox from Oracle already have that installed , and creating a Windows 7 PC on there. Then drag over the stuff he wanted to print to that machine, and print from there, which he claimed worked. While a work-around a LONG workaround with a lot of convoluted steps , this kind of defeats the purpose of having Windows 10 on the computer. Nobody have any idea about potential work being done on the driver to get this to work? I'd like to see it working I don't remember if I have a but I have a and in my collection.

I'm going to move your post off of the LaserJet board and to the Drivers board, hopefully you will get better results there. Didn't find what you were looking for? Ask the community.
